|What Type of event? Who can attend?|| |
CrossCountry (XC) events have a set number of laps around a loop course. The length of the loop is usually between 6 to 7½ km’s and the number of laps ridden depends on the category that is entered; see our categories table here. Each category starts separately (no mass start), so riders compete with riders in the same category, there are categories for all ages and abilities. The first over the finish line in each category is the winner.
A non-competitive Novice Event is held prior to each XC event. Novice events are aimed at riders who are not quite ready to compete but want to get out on the course to see just how much fun they can have. The course is a shortened version of main event course (usually 2-3km) with most of the big lumps and jumps avoided, it’s still a load of fun. Riders complete as many laps as they can (or want to) in the timeframe. The course is closed after 30 minutes leaving riders time to finish their last lap. This could mean that riders can ride for up to 45 minutes overall. Novice riders can also enter the main event if they wish.
|How long is this course?|| |
To be confirmed (around 7 km per lap).
